A couple of years ago Joni put out a call on Christian radio for more male short-term missionaries to serve at Family Retreats. Although David didn’t know anyone with a disability, he answered the call (married with no children and owner of his own car-rental business, he had the time). After the first Family Retreat, David was hooked (it’s now an annual thing). It didn’t stop there – David started collecting wheelchairs for Wheels for the World, and even provided storage space when our other warehouse no longer became available. He even stepped into the role of regional supervisor of other volunteers when our old supervisor retired. “There’s a huge place for guys to fit into Joni and Friends and I encourage more men to get involved,” says David. Sound good, guys? Then check out all the opportunities on our volunteer page!

Having served beside David at a retreet I can tell you he truely has a servants heart. He is a great buddy to his camper as well as helping in any means needed and that doesnt stop after camp. David is a true model for any Male STM. He is the STM of the year in my opinion. And I am blessed to know him
