Lifting Up the Family of God Together

Efren in his new wheelchair with his parentsYour compassion not only reaches those who have never heard the Gospel message – it also reaches Christians with disabilities in the most remote areas of the globe. These brothers and sisters in Christ lack simple mobility that would enable them to work, to attend school and church, to live with dignity and purpose. We met one of these Christian families recently in El Salvador. This year, their son Efren started kindergarten in a stroller. It was all his family had. Efren was so uncomfortable he would cry and he couldn’t play with the other children. His teacher recommended a wheelchair, but Efren’s family is very poor. “A wheelchair is more than we could buy in a lifetime,” Efren’s father, Alessandro, explained. Brokenhearted, Efren’s parents took him out of school. The love of Jesus through you overcomes hopeless situations like Efren’s! A beautiful new pediatric wheelchair with removable desk tray was rolled out. Efren was lifted into it – immediately he broke into joy. “I can sit and learn and play and color – just like the other kids!” he cried and flung his arms out wide. “FREEDOM!!” “I prayed so long for this day and God is faithful,” said Alessandro. “He has used you to lift my son to be a light and God’s own voice in his generation. Thank you!”
