MMB Bootcamp: An Intern’s Perspective

Joni with 2014 InternsOur 2014 Ministry and Missions Bootcamp Interns arrived on June 1st and have hit the ground running! They are 4 days into their internship, but already looking forward to serving at Family Retreat next week then traveling overseas to serve children with disabilities in Haiti! One of our interns shares her perspective on the first few days she’s spent interning at Joni and Friends…

“Eleven different girls from eleven different backgrounds arrived as new interns at the Joni and Friends International Disability Center this past Sunday evening. After an informative and fun day of orientation, we’ve engaged in Beyond Suffering, a three-day training course on disabilities and starting preparations for our time in Haiti. The course speakers have integrated major issues into their sessions. Two examples (out of many) would be the discussion of why we minister to people with disabilities and the biblical background of the theology of suffering. We’ve been challenged by many things that we had not previously thought through concerning disability ministry. These training days have also showed all of us that there is so much more to learn!”
